Bhubaneswar, April 29 (Local Wire) : The state government on Wednesday said that it has been conducting much more Coronavirus tests than the national average to detect more patients from the population.
Shalini Pandit, Mission Director of National Health Mission (NHM), Odisha said, “While the national average of tests per million population stands at 452 we are doing 666 tests per million population.
The aim of more testing is to trace all positive cases from the state,” she said.
She also said at the national level the positivity rate from testing in Odisha is one among the lowest. Positivity rate refers ton total cases of positive detected out of every 100 samples tested.
“The positivity rate of testing in Delhi stands at 8.4 per cent while Maharashtra reports 7.1 per cent. Odisha on the other side has now been reporting 0.4 per cent positivity rate,” she said.
Pandit said that the detection of more cases in the last few days have been due to more testing of asymptomatic patients which amount to close to 80 per cent of the total Coronavirus cases from the state.
