Bhubaneswar, December 21 (LocalWire): Odisha may witness wet Christmas this year, according to the forecast by the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) of the SOA Deemed to be University.
The CEC has predicted that several districts in the state will have rain during 24-27 December due to the movement of western disturbance towards the eastern region.
“The movement of the western disturbance towards the eastern region would support rainfall in the state with moderate precipitation likely at many places in northern and western Odisha on 25-26 December,” CEC director Dr. Sarat Chandra Sahu said, adding that the districts likely to experience rain include Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Angul, Jajpur and Cuttack.
“The probability of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in these districts on 25-26 December cannot be ruled out,” he said.
According to Sahu, the south and coastal Odisha might receive light to moderate rainfall on 26-27 December, while other districts could experience light rainfall from 25 to 27 December.
He also stated that the minimum night temperature was likely to increase gradually as the north-westerly wind flow will be changing from Saturday onwards.
