Jagatsinghpur, Sept 12 (LocalWire): A woman who faced trying times and was denied PDS commodities due to the incorrect linking of her Adhaar number with her ration card was today compensated with 6.40 quintals rice and 37 litres kerosene under NFSA.
Mamata Swain received PDS items for seven months but suddenly the local retailer stopped her supply of rice in 2016 claiming that her name was rejected by the NFS scheme.
Swain visited the government portal and found her name was included under the Antodaya scheme and every month she was entitled to 35 kg rice which was not disbursed to her but allegedly sold by the local retailer in the market.
Dhinkia panchayat samiti member Debendra Kumar Swain intervened on Mamata Swain’s behalf and appealed to the chief minister, the district collector, the BDO and other higher authorities of the civil supply department to look into the matter and conduct a probe for the violation of NFSA.
The district administration agreed and conducted an inquiry by a team led by account officer Bibudha Mishra.
Mishra found that there were two beneficiaries with the same name, Mamata Swain of Trilochanpur and the victim from Dhinkia village.
The adhaar number of the woman from Trilochanpur was linked with the ration card of Mamata Swain from Dhinkia and as result the finger print of Mamata Swain did not match and she was deprived of the essential commodities for the last three years.
Mishra in his report highlighted that the person who linked the Adhaar card was not careful while linking the numbers.
Erasama BDO, Kailash Chandra Behera, said, ‘the department has been given 6.40 quintal PDS rice and 70 litres of kerosene to the beneficiary Mamata Swain and her family due since three years. We have sought the intervention of sub-collector to take action against the errant retailer.’
