Jagatsinghpur, March 19 (LocalWire) – ‘Man proposes, God disposes’ is a saying that candidates aspiring to get tickets from the political parties in the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections here believe to be true. Hence, they are trying to secure their fate by knocking at heaven’s door.
The temple bells and the doorbell of the astrologer is chiming constantly as the candidates vying for tickets want to be first sure of their fate and then knock at the aam admi’s to decide their luck, since not a single party has been projected as the winner from Tirtol Assembly seat or Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha seat.
Debendra Mallick, who has applied for the Congress ticket from Tirtol Assembly seat said ‘my wife and I wake up early and pray to Goddess Sarala seeking Her blessings for getting the party ticket from this seat. After I get the ticket, I will seek the Goddess’ blessings for the favourable outcome of polls’.
Malllick’s wife Bijyani Mallick who is a panchyat samiti member of Biritol panchyat is also an aspirant for the Congress ticket from this seat. ‘If I get the party ticket by the blessings of Goddess Sarala, I will definitely win because Tirtol is a stronghold of the Congress.’
The sitting MLA of Tirtol, Rajshree Mallick, accompanied by her husband visited the Goddess Sarala temple and offered prayers seeking divine blessings to get the BJD ticket either for the Tirtol Assembly seat or for the Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha seat. Stiff opposition by her party members is making it tough for her to retain the seat and so her only hope lies in divine intervention.
Her arch rival, district BJD unit president Bishnu Das is offering prayers to Lord Gorekhnath with his supporters and performed a puja seeking His blessings to get the party ticket from Tirtol seat.
Interestingly, not only prominent leaders but other candidates who were not frequent visitors to temples are often seen praying prayers before the elections.
Many candidates in the hope of knowing their future through celestial communication are also lining up at the astrologers’. The ticket aspirants hope the astrologers can predict their futures and fortify their luck with the help of planetary stones to bring luck and win them the party tickets.
Astrologer Baishnab Nayak said, ‘I have read the horoscope of nearly seven candidates and advised them to seek divine blessings for a favourble election’.
