Berhampur, November 22 (LocalWire): A 30-year old woman and her brother were arrested by the police on Thursday for allegedly killing her husband by chopping his palm in village Patadhara under Ganjam district’s Jagannath Prasad police station limits, about 75-km from here.
The woman Bobby Pradhan and her brother Jeetu Badhei surrendered before the police after committing the murder and have confessed to the crime.
The police recovered the body of the deceased, Tulu Pradhan, from a pool of blood from the house, and sent it for post-mortem at the sub-divisional hospital in Bhanjangar.
The scientific team of the police has been engaged in the investigation and the blood-strained weapon used to commit the murder has been recovered from the site, the police stated.
“Though the exact reason behind the gruesome murder was yet to be known, preliminary investigation revealed that the couple had a dispute for a few years since Tulu suspected the character of his wife,” Jagannath Prasad police station inspector-in-charge Jubaraj Swain said.
“We are, however, yet to conclude the investigation. The exact reason will be known only after the interrogation of the accused persons,” he stated.
The accused persons and the deceased were from the same village and had married about seven years ago.
The couple has a five-year-old daughter, the police said.
The deceased, an auto driver was staying in Bhubaneswar, while his wife was staying with her brother in the village.
