Berhampur, Nov 9 (LocalWire) Farmers in Ganjam district are relieved a lot with the threat of cyclone ‘Bulbul’ impounding their habitations all but over as the storm will now make landfall elsewhere.
“The cyclone will make landfall elsewhere. It has spared us. We thank God as our crops and vegetable plants are intact.
We are hopeful of good harvest this time”, said Sudhir Rout, a farmer of Balipada in Kukudakhandi block.
“Cyclone is a recurring phenomenon here. We have taken the nature’s fury in our stride and withstood the ups and down of life with tenacity.
Now with the worst fear over, we look forward to a good yield and consequent monetary return to compensate our toil in the field”, said another farmer Sameer Pradhan.
“The standing crop will be ready for harvesting in a fortnight period. Heavy rains would have caused considerable damage to the crops.
But as luck would have it, nature is kind towards us this time”, Pradhan said.
“There has been luxuriant growth of paddy and vegetable plants. The yield will be quite remunerative this year as there is no more apprehension of its damage due to heavy rains”, said Simanchal Patnaik, a former agriculture officer.
