Bhubaneswar, March 15 (LocalWire): The economic offence wing of the crime branch on Friday arrested a woman in connection with a loan fraud worth Rs. 2.96 crore.
Accused Arnapurna Das (40) was among 148 fake beneficiaries who had availed loans from Odisha Gramya Bank in Cuttack district under the KGB Personal Loan Scheme during 2011-12.
Police said that the accused had availed loan of Rs. 2 lakh by producing fake documents showing herself as an assistant teacher in a Kendrapara based school.
The loans were sanctioned through forged documents by showing beneficiaries as teachers of various schools, it is alleged. Police had also earlier arrested the then field officer Harmohan Pattanaik and former Bilahat branch manager Prakash Chandra Baral in the fraud.
