Berhampur: Jan28 (LocalWire) The joint project by Berhampur Municipal Corporation(BeMC) and a consortium led by a Maharashtra- based company is going to start its trial of the Solid Waste Management Plant in Mohada from 1st April.
“The combined project to process dry and wet garbage separately is likely to be completed by 31st March. The construction and installation of machinery works are going on in full swing” said BeMC commissioner Chakravarti Singh Rathore.
The consortium would operate and maintain (O&M) the project for the next 20-years, he said.
It would produce compost by processing garbage and treating the water from wet garbage for reuse.
The processing capacity of the plant is from 150 to 300 tons per day keeping in mind the growth in waste generation of the city.
Commissioner said, door to door garbage collection will be enabled and the civic body would set up five transport points or dumping yards across the city.
Garbage will be taken from the dumping yard to the Waste Management Plant for treatment.
