Rourkela, September 29 (Local Wire) A youth died due to naked charged wires in Sundargarh district during the week as local villagers kept the wires open to target wild animals, including black panther.
The unfortunate incident of death of Mahipal Kaudi, aged 38, took place in Hemgiri forest area on September 26.
“We came to know that this has been a regular practice of locals, to target some forest animals, mainly the wild bore,” said Sradhanjali Subudhi, IIC Hemgiri police station.
Investigating into the matter, police came to know that the live wire, which was charged from an 11KV line, was deliberately done by some locals, in a bid to target some forest animals, which can be used for meat.
“Since some rare species animals, including black panther are available in Hemgiri forest range area, we have intimated the forest and electricity officials, with a request to take initiative to stop this practice,” Subdhi said.
